Excerpt

(Excerpt From Chapter 26):

They saw dead soldiers from the Commando Elite as they turned the corner. Further along, they saw more bodies, this time belonging to the terrorists. Whatever had gone down here, it had been ferocious and nothing less than a blood bath.

They then saw a small group about a hundred metres away, making their way through the final security door before entering the control room; it was clear that they were the terrorists. Just as they were about to fire on them, one of the Commando Elite soldiers shouted out.

‘That’s Major Khan. They have Major Khan with them!’

Rye could see a man dressed in United Continents uniform being roughly handled by the group. He then watched as a muscular man dressed in black grabbed Major Khan by his hair and held his face against a control panel on the other side of the large opening.

‘They are going to close the security door. If that happens, we won’t get through,’ said the soldier.

Rye didn’t hesitate and set off at a sprint towards the security door. He felt the bullets pass by as the others tried to cut down the group in a hail of bullets. But Rye could see that only those at the back were in the line of fire, acting as a shield for the rest.

Rye watched as the security door started to lower. He forced himself forward at a speed that even belied his recent understanding of his capabilities.

Ten more steps, he thought to himself, willing himself on.

At the last second, he dived forward and slid the remainder of the distance through the closing security door, hearing it thump shut behind him.
