With the second book in the Rye Braden series taking shape. I wanted to provide a little teaser into what Rye and the Special Warfare Cadre have to contend with. Hopefully, the below excerpt offers a little taster without giving away too much!
Excerpt – Elders Revenge
The van drove steadily to not draw attention to it or its occupants. The driver had disabled the autonomous pilot as they didn’t want the vehicle deviating from their chosen route. The importance of the mission was evident from the stern faces of all four passengers. They were all dressed in black, including black leather combat gloves to hide the fact that their hands weren’t human but bionic. They had all completed their training and had now been tasked with their first mission, a capture mission.
The nineteen discarded veterans that had made it through the mind mapping and bionic enhancements were now active and ready to do whatever Alexander Hocke and the Elders wanted of them. The mind mapping had removed much of their personal memory, and the disappointment and resentment that each had for the United Continents had now been nurtured into pure hatred. A hatred that happened to now be controlled by Alexander and his team.
The four black-clad occupants remained silent as the vehicle made its way to the destination. They didn’t even register the presence of each other. They had even forsaken the names they had been born with and had replaced them with a simple callsign. Alexander believed that names were too personal and humanised his new mercenary squad. He wanted any link to their human side and any emotion to be severed completely. The only thing they now breathed for was death and destruction. Alexander and the Elders had created the ultimate dehumanised weapon.
