Many people have asked how I came about the character of Rye Braden. Well, I stumbled on the character and the storyline some years ago. Back then, I never thought that I would actually publish the book.

I started a couple of storylines, but Eden Awakening was the one I came back to and decided to finish. It was more of a project than anything. But after some positive feedback, I decided to pursue the character and the potential storylines he could have.

Military Background

I come from a military background, so I understood weapons and tactics, which helped with some of the details of Rye’s world. I could picture what weapons looked like in 2054 and what skillset Rye had.

As it’s not too far in the future, I imagined how technology, the world, and the military could change. As the book was fiction, this also gave me some flexibility with the storyline. I have tried to keep the missions and battle as realistic as possible, albeit set in the future, so there is more scope for adding effect.

Rye’s Military Background

I wanted to capture the reader’s interest and decided to give Rye a Special Forces background, making him the best of the best. His Tier 1 background is based on similar current military units to a certain degree (SAS, SBS, Navy SEALS, and equivalent). Although the world has changed, so have the military units that now operate in this new world. This means we now have military units such as the Pathfinder Patrols, Commando Elite and so forth, with Rye being a past member of the former.

Rye’s Personal Life

The first book only scratches the surface of his personal life, mainly in terms of his love interest. I think that we will delve deeper into his earlier years and his personal life in later books. I am sure that he has a hidden past and that his personal endeavours will make an exciting read for everyone.
